I was a bit confused over that scene with Daario and Dany. I understand there was a cast change.
What is this guy's significance in the big picture?

(102,292 posts)I googled after seeing him show up in the role and it appears the previous actor left to do a movie.
Never read the books, so have no idea what the role's significance may be...

(11,065 posts)The books haven't gotten that far.
Generally, all we know about him from the books is that he's a love interest of Dany's. They do the rumpy-pumpy a few times, but though she wants him she realizes that he isn't the sort of guy for a queen (mostly because he's not high born). No idea what the show will do with him.
I had understood that the change of actors was because the first guy had some other commitment and couldn't do season 4. I like the new guy a lot better. The first one was just so pretty boy and emotionless.
As for him looking normal instead of the kooky hair, beard and other whacky stuff I think it's obvious why the show did that... had they made him look as the book described people would just laugh. In the books I couldn't even take anything about him including his relationship with Dany seriously since I pictured him as described, and he just came off to me as a goofy looking clown. I couldn't see Dany or any female being attracted to anyone that looked so laughably ridiculous.

(11,065 posts)About damn time they had male nudity even a fraction more then they had before given all the female nudity. Actually, I'd prefer none of it. Waste of screen time especially when they people you WANT to see finally get it on never do. It's always gratuitous sex with minor characters or the actress that plays the Milassandre, the Red Woman... she doesn't seem to do much else but go about naked and get it on with someone.
By the way, I got that "rumpy-pumpy" phrase from Charles Dance who plays Tywin Lannister from an interview he did with a couple of other actors. Funny guy. Found it...

Book fans typically imagine him more like this:
