OMG I just got this email from the Wine Store I'm on the mailing List
now-famous - at least among my 3,520 facebook friends - assclown walked into Frank's Union Wine Mart on North Union Street to find a nice bottle of wine for his sweetheart. Scott and I both greeted the Phillies fan as he entered the shop and strolled into the wine room like countless others that day. Usually we'll give folks a few minutes to browse before we ask if they need help, but this classy wine aficionado had already picked out a bottle of Tuck Beckstoffer 2010 Est 75 Cabernet Sauvignon... nice selection, Mr Assclown! He proceeded to the counter with the bottle in his hand. Scott and I were both occupied with other customers at the time and we were not near the check-out counter. Mr Assclown waits impatiently for about 20 seconds, but decides that was too long... so he walks out with his girl's gift! How romantic. He didn't even stick around for his free Valentine's Day gift wrap. Scott followed him out only to see him hurriedly pulling out of the lot in his shiny white Volvo SUV.
Even made the local papers and he's mailing the photo out to everyone and posting it on facebook

(12,132 posts)There wasa story on our local news just last night about downtown shop owners posting pictures of shoplifters and and stories of crimes on facebook - and it's working! One lady who does a lot of work with a breast cancer charity downtown has had her scooter (Vespa thing) stolen TWICE - and both times it was recovered within a day or two from people seeing the picture and keeping their eyes open.

And a bar owner had his hand-made cornhole game stolen (NB: Cornhole is what they call this bean bag toss game - played like horse shoes only you toss a bean bag into a hole instead of a shoe at a pole. It's become all the rage as it is easier to maintain than a bocce ball court or horse shoe pit I guess) and I think they said he got his stuff back too.
