Not sure what time the eggs were here last year, Feburary feels very early, But Iowa has had a very mild winter with 40+ degree days.
If you haven't favorited the Eagle cam...now is a great time to do so. I just love watching the chicks hatch and grow.

I didn't know there was a third egg. I looked, but there's a danged bird hiding the egg pile.
I like the pic from Monday night, a bit of snow after the second egg was laid.

(47,675 posts)2. Eagles are one of the easiest to sex - the females are up to 1/3 over in size of the males.
They're still fucking huge birds! I've seen one a couple of times in the air but never at ground level or in pairs.

Sunday Morning. Sun is out, and the female is on the eggs. Looks like the nest is swaying in the wind.
I saw what looks to be a large dog or coyote walking on the ground behind the nest, fledgelings beware!
