(84 posts)Plastic is not good to ingest, think I'd use metal cupcake pan, or flan dishes. Aluminum foil would make some interesting crinkly ones. Cool idea though!

(18,219 posts)The plastic would not be ingested. Or do I have it wrong???
Thinking about it a little more, I have a feeling that we have all eaten a lot of plastic over our lifetime. It seems to be everywhere and has been since I was a kid.....many moons ago.
Noooo, I didn't think so. I've noticed that balloons have an almost powder feel to them; a coating of sorts. Also I think there would be a residue of plastic AFTER removing the bowls from the balloon. I agree, we've all eaten too much plastic, so I like to avoid it when ever possible.

(185 posts)Residues could be bad, perhaps especially from made-in-China balloons. Aluminum foil, though, might have other problems; that crinkly texture could make them very hard to remove without breaking the bowls.
This would be pretty easy with reusable food-grade plastic or silicone molds or bowls. You might be able to use glass or metal molds -- including, yes, the backs or insides of cupcake pans -- if you oiled them (very lightly) first, though they might still be tricky to unmold without breaking the chocolate shell.
It'd be nice to make conic bowls or full cones, though, with parchment paper. Once the chocolate had hardened, you could peel off the parchment and add a chocolate base (with some propping probably required until the base solidified).

(84 posts)Yeah the foil would be difficult to remove. I like the paper idea especially.
