Does anyone else HATE the sound of leaf blowers?

They give me a fucking headache. Its one of those sounds that just drills into your skull. Plus, the fumes they emit could probably single-handedly melt the ice caps.

Any other leaf-blower haters here?

My neighbor lady has a deck that she uses a blower to remove fallen leaves. Would be twice as fast to sweep them off the deck, I think, but she blows that thing for 30 minutes at a time. If the wind is right, I can hear it clearly, and have to take refuge on the other side of the house.

And pressure washers and gas-powered edge trimmers and lawn-mower that make more noise and pollute more than an idling 18-wheeler.

I have a battery-operated mower that is nearly silent. I'd like to see all gas-operated garden equipment banned, or at the very least muffled and pollution controlled.

Giant John Deere lawn tractors, quads, chainsaws, weed whackers, some kind of thing they "rev" up over and over.... it goes on and on....

I don't own one, but once in a while I wish I had one. I have water oak trees in my yard. The leaves tend to escape the rake, and get stuck down in the blades of grass. They also seem to escape the mulching mower. The only thing that gets them out is a blower. I sometimes resort to using my shop vac, that can be reversed into a blower. I'll blow the leaves and dust out of my garage that way, too.

It's why we got a mulching leaf blower.

I tend to use ours when people are at work. I love and hate that tree at the same time.

but it's not the actual sound, it's that when I hear them I'm reminded that they exist. Why do leaves need to be blown? Eeewwww....leaves where they don't "belong," how ever will civilization survive? Then there's the leaf blower blowing the mowed grass clippings off the sidewalk, or, where there are no curbs, off the actual street? Since when does everyone have to have their "grounds" with a Buckingham Palace manicure?

When I lived in atlanta, my neighborhood had a bunch of homes that hired lawn care services. From Monday to Wednesday those suckers were going NON stop until noon. The sound of them (2-4 at a time) drove me twitchy. Yes, the smell of the 2 stoke engines was terrible! (I would like to see them banned in cities to be honest.)

I have a leaf blower, It's electric. It's also a mulcher. I use it when I need to mulch leaves... My yard is to small for a mower, but we have a HUGE tree a couple to houses down that likes to leaves its leaves in our yard. They are leaves that we can rake up in the fall, but come spring there are still many more there.

Give me an electric blower anytime. and let's not have them ALL the time in many numbers.

And it always bothers me to think about that stupid waste of fuel. Hell, you can do that just as easily and a lot more economically with a rake.
