"How I Met Your Mother" series finale discussion ** yes spoilers for those who still haven't seen it

I'll be honest, I was never a regular view of "How I Met Your Mother" or as what we'll call HIMYM. I binged watched some episodes on Netflix but after the 3rd season I started to grow bored. So after that I'd watch it hear and there and had the basic understanding of the series premise. A father spends each episode telling his teenage kids how he met his mother but each episode was really more about his lifelong quest to find love, get married and the crazy antics that he and his 4 bar buddies one of which he dated for a period of time.

The cast is good and I adore Neil Patrick Harris, who is an acting genius. But the thing that annoyed me about the show was that redhead - Allyson Hannigan I think her name is. I swear to god they wrote her character EXACTLY like the part she played in the American Pie movie series. Each time I saw her on screen I kept expecting her to say 'This one time at Bad Camp'. She's an overacter and I found it difficult to watch her and what's worse I thought she pulled down Jason Siegal's character whenever they had scenes together. (Siegal was good when he was with the other characters).

So I guess in the end or at least the whole time, the expectation was that in the end the Dad was telling this story because his was a widower. Because honestly, everytime I did watch the show I thought about how good of chemistry there was between the father and Robin, one of his bar buddies who he dated on and off during the series but was NOT the mother of his kids.

And I guess in the end although the writers did put together a good setup on how this guy did meet the mother of his children. I never really thought he had the same type of chemistry that he had with Robin. I watched the wedding between Robin and Barnie (NPH) and I kept wondering why the hell was she marrying Barney - she's better with Ted.

So in the end I liked the ending, I thought it was an interesting twist and that the show really was about how two people found a great love and those 2 people weren't Ted and the mother but Ted and Robin.
