Either that, or you're 72 and quit when you were 20.

I never smoked, either. My wife found a book here in Germany about a visitor from Africa who came to Germany in the 1800s and saw people smoking for the first time. This wasn't done in his part of Africa in the 19th century, and he had never seen it before. Having learned German, he wrote about his complete amazement that people would light some dried leaves on fire and deliberately inhale the smoke. In Africa, when there was fire, people usually ran from the smoke, and his flabbergasted description was a great read.

Whoever came up with the idea of smoking, anyway? And why? It really is counter intuitive.
