food rave of the day (3/24): coffee

Yeah there are so many different kinds and so many different ways to drink it, and most of us have a hard time waking up in the morning w/o our usual cup.

although my cup is about 24 oz.

I try to finish it before lunch time and then don't want any caffeine after lunch.

I especially love a good latte made with freshly ground espresso.

I was introduced to this way from a Cuban friend of mine on a ship a few years ago. It'll keep you awake on those long, boring, dark nights at sea.

Generally, I like coffee with a bit of cream and sugar.
If it is high class coffee, I want it dark and plain.

Then there are specialized stuff that some latte savants can do that just blows your mind.

So, uh... I can't choose. Pass.

It is an addiction! Home roasted all of our coffee since winter 2007. Very spoiled!

I do half hazelnut creamer and half skim milk, a splash of each. I have 2-3 medium sized cups every morning.

I HATE when I go out for a cup (I travel by car very frequently) and the only options places have are the fake creamers. I won't touch HFCS laden creamer with a 10 foot pole. The milk (or cream) in my coffee has to come from a cow not a science lab.

At least 2 cups a day. Current method is either Americano with some half and half or espresso with steamed milk; both with 2 pumps of either sugar-free brown sugar and cinnamon or speculoos syrup. (Current machine is the kind of espresso maker that does everything but buy its own damn beans, so espresso is the base. Not that I'm averse to chemex, French press, aeropress, drip, but all of those take fiddling and cleaning.)

But I do switch to weak green tea after noon.
