Could this be why walking sticks are often carved from ash? (Other than the fact that it's a good hardwood for that sort of thing?)
So that would be great for snakes and witchcraft but I prefer Granny's rheumatiz medicine

walking sticks were often carved from ash. My knowledge of walking sticks is appallingly thin.
I think Granny is onto something.
