About 10 years ago, the Freedom Toast political satire project was formed to give some laughs to those (including me!) who were depressed by the direction the Cheneybush administration/regime was taking us. The ensuing CDs were called by one reviewer "the best political satire album(s) I have ever heard."
The reason for that lay not only in the jabbing lyrics, but the musical background provided by a diverse group of people from a Gospel singer to a session jazz drummer. The musical director was/is a pop pianist who bobs his head while performing like a keyboard version of an early Ringo. Here is a rare film of him from more than ten years before TFT was even formed. You can tell he loves his music:

(54,448 posts)They are mostly an anti-right wing group, except for a few serious tunes that crept into their repetoire.
Unfortunately, much of their stuff is less passé than we might wish, but how can you fault a Sinatra soundalike singing "Strangers on the Right," or a Bush soundalike singing "Home on the Range" where "seldom is heard/a three syllable word" or a professional Gospel singer singing "Stoop Low You Media?" Or from Campaign 2008, Sam Brownback singing "Come On Baby, Don't Teach Evolution" or Willard Romney singing "Tracks in my Hair" or "This Newt Was Made for Talking"
