Does anyone play this?
My daughter and I play it on our phones (it's my understanding you can play on fb too) anyway, she kicks my ass all the time. I've won a few but...
Anyone have any tips. I'm very new to it and still working on strategy.
She--my daughter--got 121 points for the word carsick. I still can't figure out how... The most I've gotten is 72 points for a word.

(9,900 posts)Right now I'm too tired to think so I won't make a play tonight, but it's a fun way for us to interact while I'm on the road.
On edit: I google a combo of letters i.e. "Words with zy" and google points to one of the many scrabble sites with huge collections of crazy permissible words. I guess it's kinda cheating, but Alley loves to taunt me..

(19,926 posts)Just tell it the letters you want to use and how to lay them out and it comes up with words.
I'm sure you can find a few with a search if you choose to go that route.

(19,926 posts)without a cheat. So annoying. I think what finally got me to stop playing was reflashing the OS on my phone and never reinstalling the app.

(82,383 posts)I generally lose also, especially to one friend. It could be luck to some degree, but it's so consistent. I figure I don't spend time puzzling over the best move as much as others do.

(70,711 posts)I opted out of games all those years, then just did a few months with her. For me it was a trial in different ways. For starters, I thought a game had a beginning and end in one session. She was playing with a cousin separately, and the two of them would make a play then go off for hours or a day or two, peeking in to make another play whenever, with the games stretching into a week or two. With me, I'd be drumming fingers with a word or two ready, then by the time she got back, either she stole the spaces or I had forgotten the words.
Plus, that younger cousin was a more opportunistic gamer, using those exotic 2-letter sound un-words. The sister, and novice me, were more stodgy, using only traditional words. The cousin dropped out after a few months, maybe from the generational clash. The sister stopped responding to my games a couple of months ago.
I tried a very few games being linked with strangers on FB, but it got a little scary. One of them keyed porn words at every turn with accompanying chat giggles. I keep getting messages that somebody named Brieman wants to play and I just say no.
Also, a month ago, Zynga (the game site?) seemed to be crashed, then I keep getting error messages that Words has stopped working. Bottom line, haven't played a game in a couple of months.

(16,334 posts)and don't be afraid to open up the board instead of cramming two letter "words" into one section.
Look for letters that can serve double duty, making more than one word in two directions. And you can rack up points if you can use a double letter score in two directions.
Use real words.
But there's no penalty for attempting a word and then finding out it isn't acceptable. So sometimes you can twist the letters around to see if something works.
