When our oldest kid was that size we visited the zoo.

It was a jaguar behind the glass and not a lion, but every protective instinct I have kicked in.

The cat was looking at my kid and thinking FOOD.

I was fully primed to go full great ape berserker on the cat.

Went to the zoo one afternoon; there was a ginormous Siberian tiger on the other side of a glass window (she was outside; I was inside) and we started playing. I'd run back and forth along the window and she'd chase me and bat against the glass with her huge paws. I don't know if she wanted to eat me or if she just enjoyed the game.
