Have you ever encountered someone talking loudly in a restaurant?

How did you handle it?

My son and I were eating at a local restaurant this week, and the five people at another table were so loud that we could not hear each other talk. We finished our meal in silence and left.

1. Yes, and many other places, too...

like at the club meeting we had tonight.

I am reminded of a crude joke that, hilarious as it is, could get me banned here.

4. The restaurant is small, no escaping the loud noise.

I thought about next time shouting, "Can you hear me now?" However, my son would be mortified.

5. Yes, far too often.

Wanted to scream over them: "people, please, use your indoor voices". Ruined our dinner as we could not hear each other either over their loud, boring conversations.

6. One of the reasons I don't like certain restaurants. P.F.Changs comes to mind.

It is so big and noisy. I've eating outside on the terrace and it was very pleasant but I would never eat inside again. I call them for take-out. They have great food.
