(12,132 posts)upon hearing there was going to be another Godzilla movie was "Oh great. Why are they trying again?"
and I hear-by apologize to the producers, Directors, actors and all others involved for having no faith.
Because now that I've seen some trailers and see that Malcom's dad is in it I am more excited than I have been for a movie in many, many years.
I am pretty sure I can trace my very first recurring nightmare to sneaking a peek at my parents watching a Godzilla movie on a little B/W TV in my youth. And I've been in love with the idea of Godzilla ever since.
I still occasionally have the nightmare of being chased through the city by a giant monster and I always awake terrified... and then I smile. Godzilla is always with me but can never catch me.

(3,134 posts)but the idea of all the 'tests' in the Pacific being a ruse, that's kinda cool.

(8,854 posts)Anyway, it looks like it could be awesome. I've been wanting to see a good "giant monster" movie since "Cloverfield". I had high hopes for "Pacific Rim" but it actually kinda bored me even though it had LOTS of giant monsters. This one also looks as though it's taking its subject matter a bit more seriously. "Pacific Rim" was a bit too humorous in its tone for my taste, especially in its casting of Charlie Day and all.

(3,134 posts)I loved Gareth Edward's ' Monsters' and him being a such a huge Godzilla fan made him the prefect director for this!

(5,313 posts)...maybe not the same, but it sounds just like it.
In 2001, it's the psychedelic freak-out scene where you hear that tunage.
In any case, I'm gonna go see this one, I love Godzilla (the original Japanese productions, not the one made in 1998 by Roland Emmerich).
On Edit:

(20,365 posts)What city is this? San Francisco?
AllenVanAllen
(3,134 posts)But some of the carnage also takes place in NY. There will be more than one giant monster in this one. And even though he is the largest Godzilla ever on screen this poster deceivingly makes him look thousands of feet tall!

(24,370 posts)I don't know how much of a monster I am, but I think I'm pretty good.
Does that qualify?
In fact, I'm such a good monster, I just drove on through, didn't bother anyone and stopped over here in Daphne, AL.
Daphne is in for it in the morning, though.

(3,134 posts)i love this quote from: http://www.godzilla-movies.com/news/1466
"Gareth explains how the Godzilla in the 2014 movie isn't the "2014 version" but instead, it's the "true original" from 1954, how Toho had envisioned it, only perfected with CGI and a touch of realism. He also goes on to pledge to us that Godzilla 2014 will "hark back to the big-scale entertainments of the '70s and '80s", citing Close Encounters and Apocalypse Now as his personal inspirations for the tone of Godzilla."
YES!!!

from the 60's to the 2000's. I love it all. But my all time favorite movie is still the first Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
