(36,281 posts)...when their mothers licked them. Personally, I think that's the psychological door that humans get their feet into with cats. Females in particular have a reflexive butt rise in response to pleasurable stroking near the base of their tails-- it's a quasi sexual response-- and dammit, it's just a fine spot to have scratched, since they can't scratch it themselves.
