damn ice dams!

drips coming in through front window frame!
i called a few places, left messages

someone told me they don't remove the ice in gutter, just on roof--with mallets! i'm afraid they punch a hole in the old roof!

any suggestions?
i've tried throwing ice melt pellets up on the ice (don't know how much made it, a lot of it fell back down).

i'm on the verge of freaking out.

If you have the ability to climb up on a ladder, place some rock salt in a tube sock and place them along the affected areas. This should help alleviate or eliminate completely the ice jam.

it's really leaking in the window frames.

now my fear is that the more it melts the more the water will come in.

Take a pantyhose leg, fill it with salt, and tie it to a rope. Toss it up and use the rope to position it slightly hanging over the edge. Guaranteed to melt a channel in the dam.

And the rope becomes a wick for the salty water.

She said she was going to reach out the window with a broom and knock off some of the ice that way.
