Surely there is a better site than Ebay to buy or bid on people's used items?

Ebay is flooded with retailers selling two dozen of the same new item, making it tedious to find the rare occasion when someone is selling something that belongs to them.

I'm particularly interested in shopping for used guitars, but it isn't easy!

Anyone have any recommendation for alternative online used selling or auctioning?

I've had great luck with Craigslist and Etsy. riderinthestorm Feb 2014 #1
There's a button you can click in the margins to search for used items only, if that's what you want reformist2 Feb 2014 #2

Craigslist might be a better fit for that. Xyzse Feb 2014 #4
Most of the guitar forums have a Buy and Sell section. I like Ebay myself. Hoyt Feb 2014 #5

My business is horses so I'm also joined a few Facebook groups that specialize in buying and selling horses and horse gear both locally and nationally, particularly for what I do. Facebook groups seem to span a LOT of different interests - I'd bet there's several pages for used instruments, probably even one just for used guitars!

I've also found that there are some "national" organizations that have a marketplace - like for me the United States Pony Club organization has a marketplace. I'd bet there are similar music societies that also do that.

Good luck!

My favorite place to shop for "vintage" stuff.
The site is friendly, the sellers are prompt, and Etsy backs the buyer up promptly if there is a problem.
Been using it for a couple years now, love it.
The range of "stuff"may not be as wide as Ebay.
Lots of homemade items, and lots of American made "vintage" items, like kitchen ware, linens
( I got linens that were in the original unopened 1970/1980 packages..nice thick material like we used to know).

Not sure if you can find a used guitar, but hey..give it a search..you don't even have to sign up for a search.

Good luck!

On Edit, sometimes they sell used stuff in Amazon too.
