Okay. Fess up! What did you buy somebody for valentines day. I bought pretty

pale pink roses for my mom's health care aide. She is such a sweetheart - she cooked dinner for us last week and refused to accept any money when we offered it to her.

I was trying to say "Just because I'm a vegetarian and you're not, I will not be judgmental about your dietary habits because I accept you just the way you are."

I mean if she was anything but my casual-sex partner, I'd think that the exemplar of true love...buying something for someone because they love it even though it makes you retch and makes them smell awful in bed. Sadly, she didn't appreciate it the way I hoped she would even though I got a nice heart-shaped box for it at the Hallmark store.

Next year, I'm getting her a refill on her BC pills. I can't compete with her husband anyways. He makes video games for a living. Good ones. With dragons, viking-looking-dudes and shit.

Edit: Lest I be thought a cretin, I need to point out that they have an open marriage. They both pursued me for her and I initially took a pass because the concept skeeved me.

I'm in recovery. (Pretty much for "everything&quot 1 year, 11 months, 14 days. It seems becoming a writer because you idolize Hunter S. Thompson may lead to questionable (but fun!) life decisions.

But yes, I agree. I am most interesting. I'm going to give myself a trophy.

He bought me a sweet card and some red-hots candy, my favorite. I buy him things he needs or wants all year around. And we don't need an excuse to love each other. I like what you did for your mom's aide, she sounds wonderful.

but she did allow me to cook last nite. That in and of itself was a nice treat for me.

We had sauted scallops with wild mushroom risotto.

She was impressed (but not impressed enough)
