I read about. It's in the UK I think, a shearwater from memory. Scares the living daylights out of campers at night because it sounds like a demon screaming in demonic(?). Freaky shit.

with a bunch of friends, one of whom was from Kansas. After it got dark the loons started up and the guy from Kansas nearly jumped out of his skin, yelled "What the hell was that??" The rest of us LOLd.

Fisher cats have the most ungodly screech on earth....gaaaah!

And every few years or so my cockatoo has a bad dream or something and lets out a shriek in the middle of the night. Cockatoo voices are designed for long-distance communication and when they let it out full blast, can be heard a mile away. I figure the neighbors must think somebody is being tortured in my home. And they're right. Me.
