Christmas in the ER!

The circumstances are bad enough to be absurd, but I am kind of cheery. Came across the country late last night for what will be the last Christmas of a very frail and I'll 90 year old mother in law.

Unfortunately the son who has been in hospital regularly with abdominal migraine syndrome (nausea to the point of bursting blood vessels) got sick early this morning and we haven't even managed to see the relatives. He's drugged in the hospital, we're sitting at bedside and hoping he'll be able to get out before tomorrow.

But here's the thing. We love her. We love him. We all know this isn't anyone doing anything bad to us, it's just life doing what life does, and we are lucky we have people we love enough to go through all this with. We'll all get sick and we'll all die. But to have people to share both the good and the bad with, to tolerate and be tolerated by, to celebrate the whole big ball of crazy with...that's astoundingly fine.

So Merry Christmas from where people are trying to get better. Love to all y'all. Be good to one another!

What a lovely post.

I was just talking to my wife earlier about how I'm so happy to have found someone to share my life with. Our loving relationship has made me a more friendly and tolerant person toward everyone I meet.

I know the dedication and love our Emergency people have in their hearts each and every day.
Christmas Eve a special time for us all to reflect on your commitment, remember the sacrifice many of you make, and give thanks we all share this planet as Human Beings.

In fact the big batch of brownies meant for the relatives will have a new home.

Love to all who work the holidays!
