Give me an excuse to pad my post count.
A not so valuable prize will be awarded to the person that provokes Post #25,000.

(12,272 posts)It really isn't quantity, it is quality that counts, after that first 1,000. Though on DU3, that might have changed some, and I tend to look at time registered rather than post count anyway.

(29,582 posts)I was a dumbass and booked a trip to the Outer Banks during hurricane season.
It doesn't take much of a storm to knock out Highway 12. (Elevation above sea level: about 2 feet).
No electricity = no A/C, no hot food, no cold beverages.
By Day 3 I was ready to swim across the Pamlico Sound, well, walk actually since that Sound is only a few feet deep.
graywarrior
(59,440 posts)OK, so in Tewksbury, as I waited for the clutch of my 32' school bus/camper/home on wheels to be fixed because some idiot brother of a friend decided to show me how to down shift without using the clutch, I drank all weekend and ended up chasing 3 little bastard punks away from my bus with a broken beer bottle. I forget why. That's only part of the story.
taterguy

(11,155 posts)begging a post to send them over a certain mark loses 10x the posts being begged for?

taterguy
(29,582 posts)Let's review:
In 2007 I started a thread to entice someone into calling me a dumbass.
I bided my time.
I waited for DU to implement the jury system that I foresaw in 2007.
Then I waited for the person who called me a dumbass to post something stupid.
I called him a dumbass.
When a jury removed my post I started a thread about it in Meta.
That thread won Duzy Awards six weeks in a row, an unprecedented achievement in the annals of DU.
When you design and perfectly execute a plan that takes five years to implement then you can have a fucking exception.

(265 posts)Don't get me wrong, I genuinely like posting here & especially reading the posts of others, but I never have any staying power on any internet forum. The highest number of posts I've ever accumulated on any one individual internet forum is 655, and that's since 2006, and at a forum for a game that I absolutely love.
In fact, now that I think about it, I've had internet access since early 1994, and in all that time I don't think I've posted 25,000 times in total, including my early days on Prodigy, AOL, and later, MSN. Even my posts on usenet, which I posted to periodically between 1996-2003 or so probably didn't amount to more than a few hundred posts.
Anyway, congrats, tater. Amassing 25,000 of anything is an achievement in itself.
