The soles are made by Vibram, but I dont know who the boot or shoe manufacturer is.
I am looking for mens footwear that has the exact tread pattern on the soles.
If anyone knows the manufacturer of the boot or shoe in the picture, or the brand name of a boot or shoe with an identical tread, please let me know. Thanks!

(12,158 posts)I don't have a picture of it. All I know about it is what the tread looks like.
I know what the tread looks like because there's a print of it in moist soil.

(53,056 posts)Care to share? Why are you concerned about the tread pattern? Are you trying to replicate something?
frogmarch
(12,158 posts)I can't just now. All I think I can say now is that a shoe or boot print with that pattern is evidence in a criminal investigation .

(53,056 posts)I watch a lot of mysteries. I hope this is licit, for a court exhibit or something.

(5,580 posts)pattern that was made then its not evidence. as there are literally probably millions of them out there any lawyer could easily get reasonable doubt. chain of evidence is very specific if its going to ho to court.

The print was found by investigators and photographed, but it was misidentified as the victim's.

(12,158 posts)manufacture soles for many companies. Even if we can't find out who made the shoe or boot, knowing which one it is would help.

(20,176 posts)They may not know the brand of the boot but they can almost certainly tell you the model of the sole. I pulled their current B2B and resole catalog where it does not appear so it's not a current model of sole they sell. It looks a lot like their Bifida sole...which is only to my knowledge sold as a replacement sole...
and this may have been the previous version.
Once you have a name for the sole model and a production window, you can then work backwards to who bought that sole, especially if it's a replacement sole as that could give you a local repair shop which then brings it down to a list of a few hundred to a few thousand people. Not great but better than where you were at the start of this query.
Edit: They're about $80/pair for the Bifida soles so there can't be that many people with them either as a resole or on a sold boot...$80 sole for hiking boots means $200+ boots. Nobody is going to use high-tech expensive soles on cheap boots, either manufactured or replacement-sole.

(And since you mention evidence: it's not my shoe, I wasn't there, I didn't do anything, nobody saw me do it!! )

(12,158 posts)Including that petronius swears up and down it's not his or her shoe!
That's what they all say.

(20,176 posts)I couldn't get it to show-up from where eBay hosted it.

(34,137 posts)The soles look the same - not enough of the boot shows in the original OP image to be sure it's the same style.
frogmarch
(12,158 posts)I didn't see your posts with the pictures at first because I entered the thread through My Posts.
This is great! Even though the shoe that made the print may not have been the exact same brand of shoe that's in the picture you found, we'll have a good idea that it was a trail/hiking ankle boot.
Thank you!

(34,137 posts)Sorry - I should have replied directly to the OP so you'd see the images.
Looking at the soles, the design is identical. You could contact the boot maker and see which of their boots have that sole design. In searching for the model, I did not find others made by that company with that design so it must be pretty specific.

(12,158 posts)In our small town there are just few stores, but one of them, a family-owned business, sells high quality men's outdoorsy-type footwear of the same type as the Lomer boots in the picture you posted.
Not sure if any of this will lead anywhere, but it could. Thanks again!

Thanks!
Never mind - I see it now!

(12,158 posts)One of the shoes must have lost its Vibram patch, but even the policeman's sole has that identifying yellow logo.

(376 posts)i remember reading stuff back in the 70s that the FBI could solve crimes using typewriter paper samples, bootprints, etc.

(12,158 posts)is in charge of the investigation. If the county attorney (same thing as a DA) and the sheriff think it's worth pursuing, maybe they'll contact the FBI. The mismatch was discovered only day before yesterday, so they may be mulling over what, if anything, they'll do about it.
