I don't recall it saying where Sandra Bullock's character touches down. I saw lakes and hills, so my initial thought was Scotland, but I'm sure there are plenty of similar places in the US, Canada, Ireland, Europe, and in many other places.

(32,822 posts)Much as I hated the rest of the movie, I loved the ending. I took it as a generic Wasteland (see T. S. Eliot). I was half expecting what's-his-name to come wandering in.

(13,431 posts)Considering the rest of the film was presumably shot indoors at a studio, I would infer that those exterior scenes were in Arizona.
that seemed a bit lush for Arizona, IMHO.

(56,828 posts)but, isn't Lake Havasu situated in the mountains? I thought I saw multiple hills of green grass in the movie.
Found it finally - I googled the wrong things before... It was filmed at Lake Powell on the border of Utah & Arizona, but went through significant post-production work to make it look green/lush. So, it's supposed to represent another location.
