If you older folk were "kids these days," what kind of style would you have?

Me? If I was very brave I'd go for Steampunk. I love the look, the drama, the fantasy of rusty, mechanical tchotchkies as jewelry and decor. The aesthetic just appeals to me, and I was a weird enough kid to have enjoyed inhabiting a bit of a fantasy world.

What about you folk? Hipster? Cosplay? Goth? Neo-Hippie? Jock? Abercrombie Zombie?

Or make your own!

same here.

I was a teen during the mid 60s. No real style because:

1. My parents divorced and mom had to work and we couldn't afford new clothing, let alone be stylish

2. I didn't know who the hell I was, or what my style would have been.

Mostly I was just one of those nerdy, badly (oddly) dressed kids who tried really hard to be invisible.

Although now that I'm 61, I can dress however I want. I like casual, plain clothing, but go for funky/colorful/fun accessories and jewelry for a touch of whimsy...

Heck, I support it!

If I was young again, I would probably dress up as I dress up now, and avoid the whole grunge/banger fiasco.

I love that look. It eschews the narrow definition of beauty that the beauty industry is constantly showing us.
I would probably go for an eclectic mix of things, mixing the practical like boots with the frilly like a gauzy skirt over leggings.

Blue Mohawk in fact. The inlaws freaked. I thought "it's HAIR! Thank goodness he can express himself in something he can stop!"

Then came the tattoos.

I did too. Except for green.

But my hair has been blue, pink, orange, purple, black, white, neon red and varying shades of blonde and brown.

Not at the same time.

I'm currently growing out a patch of purple from some stuff I used a few months ago that was supposed to wash out after a month or so. Well, it did from the rest of my hair except for one small area on the left side. Don't know what's up with that...

I mean I'm 34 and dating a 22 year old. (Complicated. We're poly. We're not primaries. She's married. I'm not. I introduced her husband to his girlfriend.) but I'd be probably the same me except a bit more flamboyant...something between hipster and a throwback to 1960s style.

I mean Cary Grant is my spirit animal...I got the 22 year old by saying something Caryish that probably should have gotten me slapped. Nobody slaps a well-groomed charming man in a well-cut suit though. Doubly if he has great glasses and an awesome beard.

what few hairs I have left are long (including ears and nose hairs for some goddamned reason) and I wear jeans and underground death metal concert shirts when I'm not boringly attired for work.

I don't like the skinny jeans look (maybe if I was thinner - we wore tight jeans in the 70s~80s but they somehow looked different than today's skinny jeans. No idea why) and I don't understand the spiky hair sticking out all over in every direction and I doubt I would be saggin' it (although my beer gut may beg to differ) and I'm so out of touch I don;t know what else is going on with kids today so I imagine I would just keep on doing what I'm doing. I have managed to hang on to my wife for 27 years so I guess she's cool with it and hers is the only opinion that counts.

Since I started working with leather and I do love to go to Sci-Fi conventions I would probably have some steam-punk rigs for special occasions.

They might mesh well with my kilt.
