I just saw this infomercial on TV. I thought it was so funny that I looked it up on the Internet machine . . .
I discovered that not only is it an actual thing (who new?) but it is a thing that has already been dissed on HP.
I must be waaaaaaaay behind the times.
'Bacon Bowl' May Be The Most Useless Gadget We've Seen Yet (VIDEO)
Then we realized that any goof could make the same porky container using a muffin tin. But why use a kitchen tool you already own when you can buy a completely useless gadget? Because ... reasons, guys.
But Wait! - There's more
I remember reading once that Socrates said when walking through the Agora that he was constantly amazed "by all of the things that I do not need."
Anyway, it was attributed to him . . . or somebody else . . .
I was amazed that this HP site critiquing the Bacon Bowl (T) already had 615 comments!
And there's still mooore! ... useless stuff - or unnecessary stuff that I never knew I don't need
Asparagus doesn't necessarily need to be peeled at all. But if you're inclined to shave off thicker stalks, a regular peeler will suffice. Or you could spend $3.95 on a special asparagus peeler if you're into that kind of thing.

Apparently forks aren't good enough for those pesky, briny pickles. That's why there's a tool solely devoted to nabbing those hard-to-spear fellas.

(12,029 posts)When you're preparing tons of asparagus, it is a pain to use a peeling knife to whittle down the tough stalk ends.

(39,343 posts)I prefer the thinner stalks and then just bend them near the bottom until they naturally snap. Toss them in the skillet with some butter and minced garlic.
Yall are too fancy, with your peeled asparagus and such

(2,102 posts)Why couldn't someone, if they felt a desperate longing for a bacon bowl, simply invert a muffin tin, set the upside down muffin tin on a sheet pan (to catch the grease) and wrap bacon around the muffin cups? Easy Peasy, things you already own, and that aren't single purpose cupboard space hogs.
Good grief.
The only thing I want is the pin that says "I (heart) bacon bowls," and I don't even eat bacon.
