Because the night from an Italian tv show. Unfortunately learning English or even the lyric wasn't required.
The original

(72,300 posts)It's his singing voice that cracked me up. That's not putting him down at all.

(53,066 posts)I love how the women on the panel (or whatever it is) are bobbing their heads up and down with no conception of how badly she's screwed up the song.

(53,066 posts)And no one with any sanity would give me a record deal.
I guess she was a novelty of sorts. I always felt sorry for her, I was afraid she thought people really liked her.
I grew up in Oklahoma City and her cover of "Downtown" was played constantly for a while.

(6,154 posts)They often have contests where people come up to cover famous pop songs. Wish I had some vids from these shows as many of them are laughable bad.

(23,287 posts)My own vote for worst cover would be Loggins & Messina, "Danny's Song". It's only worse than the original because one of them has to be on the bottom.
My next vote would be for whatever dipshit disco act thought they could do a disco version of "Stairway To Heaven" (greatest song EVER!) without committing felonious assault on everything in existence--God, humanity, nature....I was ready to convene a Nuremberg trial for that one. Was so pissed about it when I found it in a record store (they had those in the 70s), I picked it up and broke it over my knee.
