Jesus take the wheel! Carrie Underwood isn't letting "Sound of Music Live!" critics get her down. The country singer has slammed "mean people" via Twitter on the very same day the film's original star, Kym Karath, bashed Underwood for her acting chops. Karath played Greti von Trapp in the 1965 musical film "The Sound of Music."
"Plain and simple: Mean people need Jesus," 30-year-old Underwood wrote via Twitter on Friday, Dec. 6. "They will be in my prayers tonight...1 Peter 2:1-25." The Bible scripture Underwood cites states to "rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind."

No Carrie; you can't act! Even Jesus can't help you there honey!

(23,340 posts)Carrie's acting was very weak compared to everyone else in the cast. Her singing is her forte, but I felt even there others were stronger, particularly Audra McDonald as the Mother Superior.
I was not impressed with Stephen Moyer as Captain Von Trapp, either.

(41,991 posts)I hate it when people who can't take criticism (and imo she was awful) get all sanctimonious. Everyone isn't your mom. And of course it's important to blow off criticism that is mean, but part of being a pro is to know the difference, take the real critique to heart, say thank you with humility and get better.

(14,061 posts)While I applaud the effort, I really question the casting decision here. I saw just a few minutes of it, and couldn't take anymore. The acting on almost all levels seemed wooden, if not lifeless.
You sucked, Carrie. Period. I don't fault you; I fault whoever thought you could pull this off.

(10,952 posts)should have stayed out of the kitchen (or in this case the studio). With all of her money she couldn't afford to pay for a few acting lessons? If she thought that she would take on this ambitious project without proper preparation and not receive any criticism is naive to say the least.
Big fail for NBC for their casting choice. There are so many experienced known actresses with singing skills that could have done a far more superior job.

(46,179 posts)is an understatement. I'm sure she did her best, but she was never going to be anything but pathetic following Julie Andrews.
Sorry, Carrie. Keep your day job.
I'm unimpressed with her, anyway, even as a singer.
Her voice, IMO, is about as common as horseshit on a farm. Nothing at all distinctive about it that would make her stand out from a hundred other singers with generically good voices.
Anyway, I didn't watch the program.
And judging from the responses here, I'm glad I didn't waste my time.

They wanted Anne Hathaway in the role, based on her performance in Les Miz. That never occurred to me. She would have been an EXCELLENT choice.
