Oh and earlier in the day I really really really had to post this thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1018527283

Thinking of taking tomorrow afternoon off to decorate the outside of my home a little.

The recording will only work for 6 days but it's a good one.

I find it very interesting that the penis story coincided with the first day sale of the newest comic book.

It looks like there is a new female in Archie's future.

Whoa! The Archie gang getting a little diversity? Cool!

I don't remember them ever having a character who wasn't white. Even 'Peanuts' had Franklin, at least.

I seem to remember a few years ago The Archies getting a character who was gay, and there was a bit of a flap-doodle about that. Then it died down.

On edit: Archie had better watch it. The mark on her forehead is a traditional Hindi sign of a married woman...

We were discussing it last night. I graduated from high school in '66 so I don't believe I've paid any attention to comics since the early '60s. Perhaps as late as '62.

I wonder if they did any research on the Hindi sign they used.
Or anything they think is funny.

That's good that they added them. 'Tokenism' can be a bad thing, but a total lack of diversity, reflecting the potential readership of the comics, would be even worse.

That's funny about Palin and President Obama...

Never happen...

My own star contribution will be due soon; I must remember to tell Skinner that I only mean that first amount to carry me through my birthday; then I'll make more of a yearly contribution. Neither will be much because in retirement I have to scrape by for a month on what some Congress critters probably spend on lunch for the week. But I'll still send what I can.
