Howdy from deep in the heart of the Texas hill country, day one.

Left early to beat the traffic.

Just been traveling here and there all day until dark.

Staying a nice motel with WiFi, brought my trusty lap top.

Typing on a cellphone is a drag.

No plans for tomorrow, just doing the same.

It is fun just to get lost for awhile.

Texas has some great FM roads.

Boy, did I need this trip.

Texas is a good place to do this.

FM means farm to market, yeah great place to get lost in.

Found some great bbq today, the only thing I am really looking for.

Hope to do some of that, but mostly I'm going to reconnect with a certain someone, hopefully.

But I plan to eat some REAL barbeque, not that North Carolina crap they call barbeque.

I have had some, it was ok.

I love pork ribs.

Have a great time.

I am going to spend three full days doing this,

The fourth day I am taking the long way home.

I really want to stop in Austin for awhile.

I have Austin in my blood, it miss it so.

I have been looking at the stars tonight.

Living in the city one forgets about the night sky.

Also the quiet.

I am staying at a little motel, really surprise with the WiFi.

The hill country is the best.

I am home here.

My people who settled in Texas all moved to the hill country.

It is in the blood.

I like the craft beer in Fredericksburg. We stayed at a B&B in Comfort that was quite a nice experience. Fredericksburg is a great place to spend Octoberfest and on New Years Eve they have a hangar dance at the Fredericksburg airport complete with big band music where the locals dress up in 40's period dress. We have gone twice. There's also a hotel at that airport that is done up with a WWII in the Pacific theme. There's also a nice diner at the airport that overlooks the runway and ramp area. The Nimitz museum in town is quite nice.

Many of the small towns in the hill country have festivals at various times of the year which are great to check out.
