My sister has a big grey tomcat, he loves to ride along sometimes when my sister goes for a drive.
Just about all cats I've seen freak out in the car, crying the whole time.

Best cat ever.

(60,014 posts)our other cats - just when needed, in a cage, on the trip to the vet (during which they sing their own particular melodic song)...
we had a grey tabby, Walter, who hated the car and made a mess in his cage on every trip back and forth to the vet!

(43,049 posts)years ago a cop stopped me on the LIE and while he was busily writing I saw something moving in the grass.
Turns out it was a cute little kitten. She was friendly and seemed lost, so I tossed her in the car and next stop was a Petsmart where I picked up a few cans of cat food and watched her wolf down one in the back seat.
Aside from the occasional thoughts of guilt when occasionally imagining a little girl who was crying over her lost cat and most likely went on to a miserable life as a crack whore when she couldn't get over the grief, the cat was a great companion for years, and happily sat in the rear window on road trips-- much to the amusement of other drivers.

(23,238 posts)Which surprises me, because as a young cat, she had what had to be a rather terrifying car trip. She was a little over a year old at the time. She liked to go out to the garage and jump up on the roof of my car when it was sitting in the garage. Guess she felt "high and mighty" up there. One morning very early (well before sunrise--it was still dark) I had to go someplace. Got in my car and started it, backed out the driveway, got on the street and headed down the hill; I got maybe a couple hundred yards down the road, and heard a 'thunk' on the back. I looked in the rear-view mirror, and saw two great big yellow Inky eyes looking at me! She had been on top of the car when I got in it; I hadn't seen her since it was so dark in the garage. She rode on top with no problem until I got up a certain amount of speed, but then fell backward onto the trunk lid. Fortunately my car had a spoiler that probably kept her from falling off the back and getting killed. I stopped as soon as I realized she was back there--as soon as I stopped, she was jumping off of that car! i finally corraled her and put her in the car and took her back to my house (INside this time!) She was pretty scared for awhile, but, being Little Miss Fearless, she wasn't nervous about getting up on the car after that. I just made an extra effort to make sure she wasn't anywhere around the car before I started it. Weird cat!

(8,308 posts)Me and my boyfriend took a road trip around the States for 3 months in a van with a big grey cat that loved laying in the front window. That introduced us to a lot of very nice people.
The cat I have now LOVES vehicles. I'm in a remote area so he has a yard of his own during the day. I have a riding mower and after I' have used it, he jumps up into the seat and looks around the yard. When I have visitors I have to tell them to keep their car windows closed because if they're open, he'll be inside in no time. Even going to the vet, he'll just sit in the seat and look out the window. He loves the rides.

(666 posts)Rex and Taco love taking trips in my truck and have since they were little guys. They like to sit on the dash or on top of the back seat so that they can keep an eye on things.

(2,682 posts)we had a cat (some called it a Russian Blue but I suspect more alley than pedigree) who loved to ride in the car. I was 16 -- he loved to ride across my shoulders. He loved cars so much we had to warn visitors to be sure their windows were rolled up if they came to our house and to be sure to check the car before leaving. He was not particular -- he would go in any car in the neighborhood with an open window. The whole family just adored the cat. I had to leave him with the family when I married and moved to Germany. I got him back when my mother, brother and sister moved to Australia. I had to give him up after a divorce necessitated a move to an apartment. I gave him to my brother's ex-girlfriend where I'm sure he had a good home. I'll never forget that cat even though I've had several others after him.

(22,000 posts)sometimes we even just take a cab as it's down the street and easier not to have to focus on driving. When I had a scooter (before I bought my car) I made the mistake of strapping the cat carrier on the back of it. Oh, that was one pissed cat.
But there's one that likes going on motorcycles:
