The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsAnyone here ever had a post of their's alerted on?
Just finished reading IdaBriggs thread about cleaning up the jury list. Other then a single post I made in Meta last year which was alerted on and hidden, I'm unaware of any other post of mine being alerted on.
I'm just wondering if the norm is to have had several posts alerted on or do most here have had very few if any posts sent to a jury?
While one won't know if a jury has adjudicated a post unless that jury votes to hide but I've seen many posts where a member informs another that a post of theirs had been alerted on but the jury voted to leave alone. A few have mentioned they've received a PM telling them a jury voted in their favor.

(72,300 posts)A few DUers would send me copies of the alert along with the jury votes. As far as I know there haven't been any alerts since this summer.

(72,300 posts)The post that were not hidden were lounge post. Jurors that said Leave it also said ... It's the lounge - lighten up. (not in those exact words) It appears as if I had a stalker who is taking a break or is no longer sending alerts.

I would imagine pretty much all of us must have had a post alerted on at one time or another, since there seems to be plenty of DUers who will alert just because they don't agree with what someone said, and then they try to make it the other person's fault.
I've seen enough of that sort of thing serving on juries myself.
Sometimes even if I personally don't agree with what the alerted post says, I won't vote to hide if it looks like the alerter is just trying to shut down discussion.
So people can take that how they wish. If they want to put me on their their jury blacklists, they could very well be hurting themselves if someone alerts on their posts just because they don't agree.
I try my best to be fair according to what's written...not according to personalities.

Especially if the post is borderline or, as sometimes happens, not in the least offensive...IMO, anyway...and when deciding on those, I always try to put myself in the place of the offended party before deciding.
