I'm in a baking mood, no way at 90.

(14,881 posts)in the wee hours. Central heat kicked on for the first time this season. I have it set as low as it goes (50 or so), but once it kicks on it turns the place into an oven before turning off.
Up until now, I've been using strictly the electric in my bedroom and direct vent propane to keep the family/bird room, kitchen and bath comfortable with the rest of the house closed off.
It's supposed to start warming up for the rest of the week and reach 50s by weekend.

(9,077 posts)Didn't get out of the 20's yesterday, although it was sunny and a little of the snow melted.

(30,947 posts)Our temperature is only going to be a high of 48 today. My outside thermometer reads 42 degrees. But it is sunny and there is no wind, so it doesn't feel as cold.

(11,065 posts)I hate it. In a couple of months I'll be used to it and just dislike it a lot, but right now I hate it. The dog is loving it though. Winter is his season. He's been wanting to spend all his time in the yard recently. He's rather an outdoor kind of dude in general, but when the cold weather hits he wants to be out in it all the time. He's out there now napping in his leaf nest. He wants to nest in every pile of leaves he sees testing them out to see which ones are the most comfy and which ones to just pee on when we're out walking. He'll be so disappointed when the township goes around a picks up everyones' leaf piles. He'll still have his personal nest in the yard though.
Ha, I just peeked out the window at him, and he's flopped on his back in his nest snoozing away. zzzzzzzzzzzzz. I also noticed he dug another big crater under the tree I'll have to go fill in soon before it gets dark. For some reason there never seems to be enough dirt to put back in his holes. What does he do, eat half of it?
