Hard to tell by the photo whether this is a delta or the headwaters, but yes, it is amazing and beautiful.

There is one well known (though the name escapes me) river in Africa that flows only during the wet season and it's delta is in the desert - the water never reaches the sea.

The title/description of it uses the term fractal, which I thought was cool.
