Brooks and Bancroft play Fred and Anna Bronski and they are surrounded by folks named Sobinski, Siletski, etc. When I first saw it I thought the dog was named
Mutski (which I think I like better.)

This 1983 remake of a classic is a lot of fun.

I love that Mel Brooks movie and wish it were shown more often.

He has said it is the favorite of his projects (I think mainly because he was able to work with wife Anne.) But unlike other Brooks movies he did not direct it and he did not write the screenplay. (Although it's hard to believe he didn't have input.)

The original 1943 film is an Ernst Lubitsch masterpiece (The Criterion Collection has a great package of that To Be Or Not To Be with commentary and many
bonus features.

I read a good amount about the movie when the Brooks version first came out, but that has been a very long time ago and a lot of life has passed!

Life will pass but the great films (if preserved) stay as they were for us and hopefully for future generations.
