Relax. I didn't start smoking weed and stealing my dad's beer until I was 16. Tobin S. Oct 2013 #1

He's a good kid, for the most part. Best buddy is now driving so I tend to sit here thinking of all of the horrible things that could happen. Cutting the cord on that last one and letting them live their lives is rough.

I am not a parent, but I would imagine that worry would be a familiar emotion for a long time if I was. It's probably something that you never completely stop doing.

And we know what we were like when we were that age and some of the unwise things we did. I'm sure that just adds to it.

My son, 49, and daughter, 48, both lived through it and so did I!

Mid-teen years are the hardest...I'd lay in bed waiting to hear the key in the front door, more times than I can remember. Hang in there!

Take care, Laura!

Now he's comfy on the couch. There's a Lions game on today and it's being broadcast in Houston (go figure!).

So glad the boys made it through. They both got into a fair amount of trouble, but grew up to be good men.

I was no angel at that age myself. Neither was my sister. Mom used to say that she hoped we'd grow up and have two kids just like us. The famous mother's curse. We both had our two hell raisers. But we're both grandmothers now, and loving it. All's well that ends well.

You're going to be fine.

His sister tended to have her friends all over here at the house. He's an out and abouter, so it's weird. Thanks Granny M.

He has a heavier foot than his sister did...so it's been a little bit-erm-exciting to say the least.

I've raised three girls, youngest is now 17. They're all alive, not drug addicts and no surprise pregnancies...all doing well.

It's really difficult when they start to navigate in the world and make their own decisions; I knew what I did as a teenager which made it even worse. All you can do is hope they remember and use everything you've taught them along the way.

They turned out great, and so did most of their friends, but there was some serious grace happening back then.

Be brave.
