Spoiler Alert! Trevor gets killed in Grand Theft Auto V

I was hoping that he'd survive so he could show up in future versions of the game, like Rosenberg in GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas.

Alas, it wasn't meant to be.

Please share your thoughts on this shocking development.

Thanks!

Imho, GTA is one of those violent stupid video games that exploit violence for violence sake. Kids play these games and we wonder why there are shootings in schools. The fact that these games make so much money is sickening. They show people getting shot, blown up, stabbed etc. and I don't know why anyone would ever let their kids play these kinds of video games.

I hope you don't play this "game" with or around kids, man. It desensitizes them to the real violence happening on our streets. Maybe even causes some of it.

The GTA III revolutionized the gaming industry. Most of the video games that are being produced today use elements from the game and series. You have a wide-open world that you can freely explore. There is also a well-written story when it comes to missions.

There is no proof that it is desensitizing or causing violence, I'm addicted to the series and I'm appalled by real violence as much as anyone. There have been school shootings long before GTA -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_school_shootings_in_the_United_States#1990s

On edit - On this latest game, you can do anything from driving cars, flying planes to playing tennis & golf.

"It's the video games' fault kids are shooting up their schools!"

Can I let you in on something? The violent crime rate is at its lowest level in 40 years, only a fraction of what it was just 20 years ago.

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/06/11/12170947-fbi-violent-crime-rates-in-the-us-drop-approach-historic-lows

All this despite the flood of violent video games and movies and music saturating the market.

Yet if we believe the corporate news media, we live in VERY scary times! Very scary times indeed!

So scary we need to start banning shit! Like pronto!

when giving spoiler alerts perhaps separating the alert from the actual details might be more desirable.

Saw that it is optional to kill him.

On edit - I realize making it optional makes it hard for him to make appearances in later versions.

The FIB faked his death and Trevor watched him die. So the exact same thing could happen again, leaving any of the characters to come back for more.
