Boogie, a brown lab from Indiana, completed most of the half-marathon he inadvertently entered after escaping his owner Saturday.
After finishing the race in two hours and 15 minutes, beating over half of the race's competitors, the dog was taken to Animal Control by authorities.
Kim Arney, a participant who lost her partner near the start of the race, said Boogie ran alongside her until he was taken away.
"I lost my race buddy about mile 4 or 5 and picked up a new one around mile 10," she explained.

Boogie Butts, the famed canine that completed the Evansville Half Marathon earlier in the month, passed away Wednesday morning, according to members of his family.
Eight-year-old Boogie, a 100-pound chocolate lab, gained fame earlier in October after his widely publicized completion of the 13.1 mile half marathon and award ceremony that followed. Boogie finished the race in 2 hours 15 minutes beating the times of 1,128 of the races registered participants.

(28,762 posts)dog is about the same age as Boogie. Too bad Boogie died, that's a problem with larger breeds, they have a shorter life span.
