The Simpsons: Which Unlucky Character Will Take a Dirt Nap in Season 25?

Oh my God, they’re killing…well, somebody.

Yes indeed, a regular character will pay the ultimate price on The Simpsons during the Fox comedy’s upcoming 25th season — the first since Maud Flanders unexpectedly reached her expiration date back in February 2000 — producers revealed in a conference call this week.

Who will be pushing up animated daisies?

“I’ll give you a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won’t say who it is,” executive producer Al Jean told Canada’s Sun News.

I apologize for the crude headline, but I don't think we're supposed to alter it.

Anyhow, I thought maybe some Simpsons fans might be interested in this article.

Too bad they can't try something edgy to get people watching again. Thanks for sharing.

Maybe have Lisa join a cult?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Joy_of_Sect

"The Joy of Sect" is the thirteenth episode of The Simpsons' ninth season. It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on February 8, 1998. In the episode, a cult called the "Movementarians" takes over Springfield, and Homer and the rest of the Simpson family become members. Homer and Bart are initially introduced to a pair of young Movementarian recruiters in an airport. Homer becomes brainwashed, and moves his family into the cult compound. David Mirkin had the initial idea for the episode, Steve O'Donnell was the lead writer, and Steven Dean Moore directed. The writers drew on many groups to develop the Movementarians, but were principally influenced by Scientology, Heaven's Gate, the Unification Church, and Peoples Temple....

Though defiant at first, all the Simpson children are converted to Movementarianism. Marge is the only family member to resist, and escapes from the heavily-guarded compound, Especially The Monster Bubble. Outside, she finds Reverend Lovejoy, Ned Flanders, and Groundskeeper Willie, who have all resisted the Movementarians, and with their help, she tricks her family into leaving the compound with her. At Flanders' home Marge deprograms her children by pretending to offer hover bikes. Homer seems to yield after Ned offers him a beer, but just as the first drop lands on Homer's tongue, he is captured by the Movementarians' lawyers.

She was Danielsoned, rated ineffective, 3020-A-ed and dismissed, five days before she rated a pension. (Coincidence? Yeah. Right.)

Replaced by a 25 year-old tenure-less, spouseless and childless eager beaver who was willing to work 60 hour weeks for minimum wage.

Seymour signed the termination papers. Ms. Krebopple died of a broken heart, actual starvation and lack of access to quality medical care.

Chris Latta has never received an emmy. However the following people have:

Dan Castelleneta (4) for Homer Simpson, Grampa Simpson, Krusty, Willie, Sideshow Mel, Barney, Itchy
Nancy Cartwright (1) for Bart Simpson
Yeardley Smith (1) for Lisa Simpson
Hank Azaria (3) for Moe, Carl, Chief Wiggum, Apu, Johnny Tightlips, Bumblebee Man, Cletus, Comic Book Guy, Lou
Marcia Wallace (1) for Mrs Krabappel

And while they've fudged the other characters' ages a lot (25 years of differences), Grampa would be a hundred this year.

Of course, this is the same show that hilariously portrayed a young Burns shoveling uranium into the furnaces in the 1890s.

http://theweek.com/article/index/250588/this-is-probably-the-character-that-will-die-on-the-simpsons-this-season

That lack of forward momentum is the reason that executive producer Al Jean made such a big splash on a recent conference call when he revealed that The Simpsons will be killing off a regular character in an upcoming episode. Though The Simpsons has occasionally featured the deaths of recurring characters — including Lisa's mentor "Bleeding Gums" Murphy and Ned Flanders' wife, Maude — the potential loss of a major character is enough to make even the fans who abandoned the show years ago sit up and take notice.

When pressed, Jean refused to reveal which character it would be, but said that "the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character" — a revelation that narrows the field down to about two dozen possibilities....

That leaves two possibilities: Bart's nemesis, Sideshow Bob (voiced by 2006 Emmy winner Kelsey Grammar), and Krusty the Clown's once-estranged father, Rabbi Hyman Krustofski (voiced by 1992 Emmy winner Jackie Mason). Both characters fit all the clues Jean has given, with repeated appearances over the show's 25-season run.

But Sideshow Bob happens to be at the center of The Simpsons ride at Universal Studios, which replaced the park's long-running Back to the Future ride in 2007. The theme park is investing in The Simpsons brand in a big way, with relatively new attractions like Moe's Tavern and Lard Lad Donuts popping up over the past year. I can't imagine that Universal would be happy if the TV show killed off the villain at the center of one of its newest attractions. That means there's one last name on the list: Rabbi Hyman Krustofski.
