We've a Keurig but I can't see spending that much for each cup, plus they don't k-cup my fav brand.
So instead, I use
to brew my fav
It's nice, cheap, and strong as hell (the way I make it)
How do you take yours?

(31,389 posts)I mix my coffees: half of half decaf and a caffeinated flavor. Sometimes it has
chocolate, sometimes caramel, sometimes spice flavoring.

(7,981 posts)Boil water and pour over 5-6 scoops of freshly ground coffee bean. Usually, a light roast with vanilla, chocolate, or caramel flavor that I buy out of the bulk whole bean rack at the local supermarket. Then add soy milk, no sugar.

(50,949 posts)I use Lavazza Espresso grind, make it with cinnamon in a French drip pot, and take it with homemade almond milk. (The store bought stuff is nothing like the homemade stuff. Homemade tastes like 1/2 and 1/2 only better.)
It has to be in the stainless steel thermal cup so it stays hot until the last bit.

(27,677 posts)A variety (more or less) of the Arabica bean...
Mandheling is named after the similarly spelled Mandailing people located in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The name is the result of a misunderstanding by the first foreign purchaser of the variety, and no coffee is actually produced in the "Mandailing region". Lintong on the other hand, is named after the Lintong district, also located in North Sumatra. This is not a specific cultivar, but rather a region with a specific processing style.

it wasn't until several years after I returned to the States that I found out that it was actually "Mandheling."

Gotta be careful not to take the wrong coffee to work. The drip grind doesn't work so well in the press.

(9,808 posts)They're both local roasters. We like medium to light roasts, and altitude means over-roasting is really, really easy. Those are the three consistent roasts we've found.
We use the refillable inserts for the Keurig.

As for my brand, I found a cheap one that's fairly decent:

(5,865 posts)It too is cheap. Maybe one day, I can pay 15 a can and get all exotic. Right now, I pay 5 dollars a can -- that's less than a pound. In any case, it is the brew that pleases the house and it is readily available. It is no fun changing up coffees and having to figure out the right mix. But if I do switch brands, I am trading up.
Sometimes I like a crappy cup of thin american coffee, especially when eating a a piece of pie. That's probably just from growing up in the golden age of diners.
It ooks like you might be from FL. I lived in Miami and fell under the spell of the cortoditito. sp.? Lots of good cofee options in S. FL.

Trailrider1951
(3,414 posts)coffee. Since the water moves up from the bottom tank through the grounds to the upper reservoir when it boils, the only way to burn the coffee is to leave it long enough to boil the water dry and overheat the whole pot. Once this pot ceases its petite volcano noise, the coffee is done and should be removed from the heat immediately. Perhaps you have my pot confused with a regular percolater, as shown above. The percolater does boil the coffee, and the resulting liquid contains all of the bad coffee stuff and good coffee stuff (aromatics and volatiles) have long since departed the area. I agree that this is not the way to make coffee.

(6,336 posts)I float between two offices so which coffee I get depends on which office I am in
When I'm in office A
Trader Joe's in the office Mr. Coffee (Peaberry blend, yum).
When I am in office B
I stop at Sheetz on the way in (no office coffee maker.
Note, I'm between housing right now and no way to make it at home. At home (when I'm not on the road) it's Wawa (how I miss my Wawa).

(20,234 posts)aren't getting the reusable cups and filling them yourselves. That way you get the kcup magic (whatever that is, I don't have one so I don't know), and you still pay the normal per pound coffee price without the markup.
Me, I use a french press and usually anything cheap and whole bean that I can grind - either flavored or dark roast. I did get a stash of preground stuff though in spring when my phone kept paying me to buy coffee, so it was free or a dollar to get a bag every week. My freezer had a ridiculous amount of coffee in it when that was happening.
