(2,829 posts)You'll get them home and they'll be a little dopey and then they'll want to jump up on things when you know they shouldn't.
We spayed three of our females all at one time back in 2010, one was the adult mother of the other two. Eight of our cats were from a group of four litters that we caught until finally able to get the Mother cat to come into the house.
Our cats were not very kind to our Vet, two of them got away and had to be chased down. One of them is near feral (we told him) and he thought she was calm enough and touched her on the head and even with her nails clipped she tore into him good. Oddly enough she usually isn't a scratcher but a biter. He has a nice permanent scar and we can laugh about it now.
Since my Ex moved out I'm now the one that has to catch/brush and clip the nails of the feral one. I haven't tried it yet. She scares the hell out of me and she knows it. I wish he would have taken her, he took her best friend/brother and he at least had a somewhat calming effect on her.
Good Luck with the Kittens it's funny how well they get over such an operation.

(56,177 posts)The worrisome part was the surgery and the anesthesia...all 3 were homeless feral kittens when I got them...one at 3 weeks, the other two at 5 weeks, so they were socialized quickly...but all had respiratory infections which were treted successfully, but I was worried about anything lingering that might complicate the surgery. Good luck cutting Mom's nails!

(2,015 posts)but I'm sure you won't really feel better until you get them home again. Did Ashley miss them or did he do a happy kitty dance when they went into the carrier? (Ashley is your beautiful gray boy's name right?)

(56,177 posts)like the smell...he was fine after an hour or so, but he didn't want anything to do with them for that time! Good thing is they were ignoring him too, making sure they were home and no one was going to do anythign else to them. Now everyone is snuggling again!

(44,974 posts)But if he doesn't like the smell, why doesn't he beat me?
I know...Ashley's reaction was fairly muted...when I had Scarlet and Melanie, once Scarlet had an infection, took her in and when I got home, Melanie hissed and swatted...and they were littermates!

(56,177 posts)But the usual wet they get in the mornings and nights she turns her nose up at...I think the anesthesia is still affecting her tummy a little.

(56,177 posts)They all had URI problems when I got them, so breathing under anesthesia worried me, but no problems at all.

(21,484 posts)for a while. They may snap back completely by this time tomorrow, but more likely by Monday.
You're a good cat parent.

(56,177 posts)Yeah, they're still a little fussy about food, and they aren't as active yet...I notice them taking their time climbing up to the sill...it's good they know not to strain themselves.

(4,243 posts)When my puppy was spayed she had to stay at the vet overnight. The next day I went to pick her up and she was still kind of out of it. I felt so sorry for her all I could do was lay on the floor beside her bed with my arm around her. I kept adding ice to her water and making sure she was comfortable. Every time I thought about her not feeling well I would start to tear up. The next day she was up running around like nothing ever happened. I just love animals.
Best wishes for your babies.
