Question: Was Tommy Tutone a complete and utter idiot? Yes? No?

So he's in a bathroom stall and sees a phone number on the wall with the name Jenny, and the first thing that comes to mind is, Hey, that's going to be my future wife!

Never mind that it's almost certain that Jenny is either:

A) A dude. Which is fine, but don't go calling yourself "Jenny" if that's the case. Because once you pick up and speak, Tommy's going to know your name isn't actually "Jenny."

or, even more likely,

B) A girl with an angry ex-boyfriend who, after having been dumped, posts her name and number on the bathroom wall.

I mean, if Jenny is actually Jenny, what's she doing in men's bathrooms writing her name and number on the wall?

Imagine if Tommy did call Jenny, and she was just so charmed that he had called, and they had fallen in love, married and had a bunch of kids, who in turn gave Tommy and Jenny lots of grandkids. Imagine that conversation:

Grandkid: Grandpa, tell me how you met Grandma.....
Tommy: Well, I had just eaten a lot of Mexican food and I was wincing in pain.....

C.) Jenny is a prostitute. In an age before internet or Craigslist and where adult ads in the newspaper were more likely than not to be police stings to arrest johns for pandering...that's how prostitutes, particularly street prostitutes, used to advertise. In reality, the number more likely connects to a pimp, all of whose employees are "Jenny".

B is a response to C. Angry boyfriends write their ex's number on the wall so skeevy men will call them looking for a prostitute and harass them.

Edit: Yeah, Tommy Tutone is an idiot.

I stand by my interpretation. Nothing there says therapist to me unless she's the kind who entertains men's fantasies and provides "a good time" for money.

30 years later, and is probably still living off the proceeds.
