Enormous bruise on my right knee.

Last edited Sat Sep 21, 2013, 10:05 AM - Edit history (1)

I fell on it kind of hard yesterday doing lunges in my intermediate fitness class.

Read that part again "doing lunges in my intermediate fitness class."

The guy who was so out of shape 13 1/2 months ago he could barely walk 2 miles.

I have never been so PROUD of a bruise

It's AWESOME!

The reason I fell was the glossy floor. Denninmi Sep 2013 #5
Yeah, the sweat drops are slippery. I try to be mindful of them when moving R B Garr Sep 2013 #6

Just a bruise, no significant swelling, just black and blue.

Thanks for the concern from an excellent, caring HC provider.

Fell right on my left knee moving sideways. At first I thought I should feel embarrassed, but no one noticed. It's sports, and people fall all the time, so it was no biggie! So far, it's getting tight and sore feeling, but it's hard to tell how far it's going to go.

I haven't fell doing lunges yet, but I did totter a bit once after I added weight and wasn't used to it yet, so I can see how that happened with you.

So, yes, a bruise is indeed a badge of honor on the fitness quest. No guts, no glory!

Basketball court glossy polished wood. So a little slippery under my shoe due to my own drops of sweat on the surface. Not embarrassed in the least when it happened.

No guts, no glory!

around a lot on the floor.

I'm not even sure what caused this fall, except maybe my Nike's are worn out...? When I bought these Nike Free Runs, the salesperson told me while chatting that the rule of thumb for sports footwear is that they are good for about 500 miles or 6 months of consistent use. I've ignored that and kept these for a year now. Maybe he was right! I have noticed that they don't have quite the structure and support they did when new to where I can feel my feet sliding to the outer parts of the shoe bottom and not holding firm enough. Plus, they encourage you to go a half size larger, so I think these are maybe just stretched/worn out and my foot dragged too much in them and I just tripped up. And here I thought you could never wear out Nikes, but I guess you can!

I'm glad you weren't embarrassed either. I think if people even notice, they know it can easily happen to them. I've seen people slip off backwards off the treadmill, etc. When you're moving your body like that, you're going to crash here and there.
