What's the matter with people who like their own posts on Facebook?

Is it:

a)Sad
b) Pathetic
or
c) Soul Crushing

What's even worse is when they are the only person to like the post, and there name is sticking out there like a sore thumb.

Real life example I came across today:

Facebook Friend:
"Ron Paul for President!"
(Thumbs up icon) Facebook Friend likes this.

post something they've found on the net that they really do like - such as a human interest story or an interesting picture, they'll give it a Like on their Fb page. I don't do that, but I think that may be why some people Like their own posts. They're really not patting themselves on the back. They're saying they like the story, picture, or whatever it is. Not a big deal in my opinion.

Isn't that indeed sad, pathetic and soul crushing all in one? Even more so given that no one else thought that was a good idea to like?

Much like self-love...I am my favorite partner, I know exactly what I like without me needing to vocalize it to myself.

(So, yeah...liking your own posts is masturbatory.)
