Other than the fact that drugs are a part of the story line...

Weeds was more a typical Show Time sitcom... Breaking Bad is like a modern day Greek Tragedy with incredible character development,, acting, and complex morality themes. Worth going to netflix and watching the whole series. AMC is clearly taking on HBO head on in recent years. Breaking Bad is a large part of that success.

I watched the first couple of seasons in a marathon - which helped because there is a definite story arc.

2 more eps to go. Bummer.

Am I just out of touch or does it get better after the first season and a half?

There are many lauded shows/movies in the past that never appealed to me. Mad Men appeals to me because I like "period pieices", but in reality, it isn't in my top ten, yet it wins all the awards...

Look at Dexter--which people either LOVE or detest.... Those shows with difficult subject matter (meth makers/dealers versus serial killers) tend to have that affect on people--even if they can acknowledge the good acting and writing... Sons of Anarchy is one I'd never thought I could EVER watch, but in reality, the first couple of seasons were very compelling... So, worth giving a try, I think.

measures (and ingenious) schemes they undertake to avoid being caught and for Walter, to maintain the semblance of a "normal, average" guy for friends and family progress in all seasons... Increasingly he transforms ("breaks bad&quot in an ever escalating fashion and there is that inner fight between the lingering "good" guy and that which he is becoming that most find transfixing.

are really setup and background. I might finish up the second season and see if I get into it.

I feel a little left out, because many whose opinion I respect do say it's a masterpiece.

Tuco "Tight tight tight".

That scene where he stabs the knife over-and-over onto the table just cracks me up. I think he is the only character that Walter really fears.

BB is one of those shows that gets better every season and the current season is on a whole 'nother level I never imagined.

Brilliant show. Brilliant writing. Brilliant acting… with the arguable exception of Anna Gunn.

or published or anything -but someday....) and Breaking Bad IMHO is the BEST show ever in the history of television. The writing is the most multi-layered I've seen and the acting is off the charts. I personally disagree with some who don't appreciate the Skylar character or Anna Gunn. I love Skylar and I think Anna Gunn is wonderful. I'm re-watching last week's episode now and can't wait for this weeks which starts in 12 minutes!

Weeds was a show with a good premise and started off entertaining. It seemed to have promise. Unfortunately, the writers must have got bored and it lost all direction. I enjoyed the ending though.

Breaking Bad sets the bar for TV drama.
