although I could be wrong and maybe they recorded some great soulful tunes I'm not aware of (I've never bought one of their albums). The ones I've heard on the radio have been pretty cheesy. There's one by a guy who's name I think is Richard Marx that used to get a lot of play on the cheesy radio stations, something like Hold On To The Night (Hold On To The Diarrhea as I called it) in a ridiculously forced gravely voice supposed to sound soulful. Then there's that Debbie Boone song that I can't remove from my head every time the plastic surgeon commercials come on about the Lifestyle Lift, You Light Up My Life, which for some reason reminds me in its cheesiness of The Fart Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler.

where he says that when Honey went out to sweep snow off a little tree so that it wouldn't break, she slipped and almost hurt herself...and he laughed till he cried.

I'd give it a listen to get the exact words, but I hate that song.

I didn't really notice his hair until you mentioned it. Thanks a bunch for that.

How is it possible that I can hear the song in my head (it's now a big fat earworm!) even though I didn't play the recording? EEK! It's evil, I tell you!

might mean that Honey offed herself.

Hey, Honey-- You slipped and almost hurt yourself!
Hey, Honey-- That twig you planted will never amount to anything!
Hey, Honey-- You getting all worked up about yet another sad and silly late late show (while I'm "working late&quot ?
Hey, Honey-- You're kinda dumb, but kinda smart!
Hey, Honey-- Why you crying needlessly in the middle of the day?

and who could've blamed her? Mr. Honey was a cruel, insensitive pos. There should have been an answer song, with Honey's ghost telling it like it was:

♫ You told everyone I slipped and almost hurt myself, but you know that really, you punched and shoved me, you rotten bastard. ♪♫

Like that.

Actually the biggest problem with this one for me is that it came out not long after my mother died and having it come on in the car when we were driving with my father was excruciating. Even so, it made my ears curl.

Nowadays I hear students with real sloppy pronunciation. I would never dared to say "Ish". Ha!
