This would also apply to shared printers, copy rooms, etc.
Are your common areas plastered with signs telling you to do stuff and not to do stuff?
Example, on the refrigerator, "don't take stuff that's not yours!" In the copy room, "don't remove staples on the copier!" At the printer, "keep the drawers filled!"
Some places can get pretty annoying with this stuff. Is yours?

(2,830 posts)Most of it I didn't mind. It's just too bad common sense isn't so common.
The last place I worked had signs on the refrigerator saying not to put anything on top of the refrigerator and to not keep open cans of soda in the refrigerator.
They also had a sign that said, "Everything in the refrigerator will be tossed out on Friday nights unless they had a name written on them."
I think the biggest problem area was the microwave and people not covering their food or using the paper sheet that was provided to be placed under the food. But I never saw a sign about keeping the microwave clean.
The copy machine only mentioned keeping the cover closed when not in use.

(30,947 posts)I was on vacation at one time and didn't know about it and they tossed out my favorite salad dressing.
And most people were very good about cleaning the microwave if they messed up. But once, someone burnt popcorn and did not clean it, but he was tracked down.

(20,176 posts)I had such signage when I still worked in such places to my annoyance...then I self-employed and I starting putting such signs myself. I have signage for my various job-tasks but since I'm the only person that sees them, they're me-centric and I put them up as reminders to myself regarding best practices or situational-necessary information.
Such as this:
or this:
Change networks before printing.
I annoy myself constantly with my signs but I don't function half as well in their absence.

(3,709 posts)very little of that where I work now. Just a 'staff only' on the refrig and 'Wash Your Hands' in the bathrooms. Everyone seems to pitch in and do all the other things without having to be harassed.
But I have worked for companies where you had to guard your food with your life, so the signs went up. Annoying, indeed.

(30,947 posts)in the bathroom where I used to work. Did they think we were a bunch of pre-school kifd?

(32,094 posts)I see it all the time. They walk out of the stall, and leave without ever even looking at the sink. It's gross. So, yes, they think they're preaching to a bunch of pre-school kids, because many have not progressed beyond that point as far as hygiene goes.

(10,109 posts)Hi,
Yes, unfortunately we moved to a different location and the mother hen of the group posted a "Breakroom Etiquette" sign with like ten items on it. If she thinks a sign in there is going to keep all the idiots from leaving crap in the fridge, burning popcorn in the nuker, not cleaning up after themselves and so on, she is nuts. I should post a picture of that obnoxious list.

There are very few places we are allowed to smoke anymore, and we all know it
SO
Take down a few million no smoking signs, and put up signs where appropriate saying "Smoking Allowed!"
Be many fewer signs methinks!
