The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI own seven Stanley Kubrick DVDs, your task today will be to deduce which seven I own
You will do this based on the following clues:
1. None of the seven are either his first or last feature films.
2. Only five of the seven are in color, the other two are black and white.
3. Only one of the movies is a comedy.
4. All seven movies are adapted from a literary work.
5. War is featured in only four of them.
6. One actor appears in two of the movies.
7. Think about beginnings and endings.
This will not be a guessing game where I'll critique each post. I will only inform the correct guesser that they've won.
Good luck and happy hunting!

(6,996 posts)Am I correct the only 2 actors Kubrick used twice are Kirk Douglas and Peter Sellers? And I thought it unlikely you would own 'Lolita.
I own the boxed set, 'Stanley Kubrick: Limited Edition Collection'
which includes 9 films plus the doc 'A Life in Pictures'.

(53,339 posts)Okay, I pared it down to seven:
1. Paths of Glory (war)
2. Spartacus (war)
3. Dr. Strangelove (war)
4. 2001
5. A Clockwork Orange
6. The Shining
7. Full Metal Jacket (war)
The B&W are P of G and Dr. Strangelove; The comedy is Dr. S.; all are from lit works; the actor in 2 is Kirk Douglas, in P of G and Spartacus; I think I'm ending this now.
