Krispy Kreme! on my side of the bay! fuck yeah!

ST. PETERSBURG — The words "hot" and "now" will soon have new meaning beyond the Florida weather. A Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store is opening at 9100 Fourth St. N within weeks. It's about a mile north of a Dunkin' Donuts in the 7500 block.

Fans of the 76-year-old business know that when the "Hot Now" sign lights up, freshly made doughnuts are just coming off the belt.

"There's nothing else like it," said 29-year-old Randall Kies, who's helping build out the interior of the store, formerly the Ragin' Grill and before that a YaYa's Flame Broiled Chicken.

Krispy Kreme, which draws long lines around its buildings for store openings and birthday specials, has an app that alerts smartphone users if they are in the vicinity of hot doughnuts.

how any other doughnut place can survive when a Krispy-Kreme is near.

My closest one is about 8 miles away in Winter Park.

I pass about 4 Dunkin's on my way to it.

forgot to add CONGRATS on your new fried dough score!

I miss Krispy Kreme.

Though the little mom and pop doughnut shop that opened up about ten miles down the road more than makes up for not having one nearby.

I don't know why. There were never any lines around the block, or anything, but it seemed to do good business.

The building houses a Panera now.

We had a dozen of them that went up in a year's time, and then they all vanished about three or four years later.

Awesome donuts and then a great day in NYC. Doesn't get much better than that.

I went about two years here before I even knew there was a KK in Penn...me and the gf got all excited and left for work early one day, only to get down there and find out it's just a tiny little walk-up in the corner, with nothing more than day-old donuts probably shipped in from the stores in PA and certainly not made there and run under a waterfall of deliciousness. It is still better than Dunkin, but not enough to be worth the extra traveling.

It's amazing how little out of the way one wants to go, living in NY. Unless I'm literally on the upper level of Penn, I won't go to that KK...let alone if I'm all the way up at Times Square! And the outer boroughs? I haven't been to Queens since the last time I flew out of LGA..
