a two day trip. I left food out for Twilight but she was alone for two days. When I got home I was sure to give her lots of attention. Then I put a new wool plate cozy on the kitchen counter as I unpacked. When I came back into the kitchen she was right on top of it. Sitting and purring. She never gets up on the counter. I guess she thought it was for her. LOL!

(115,693 posts)has to do with which cat had rights to sleep in the heated cat bad. Milo, the oldest, largest and fluffiest of my three, staked out his exclusive claim to the heated bed as soon as we got it. One day Jeoffry, the gray tabby, saw his chance when Milo got up to use the litter box and check in the kitchen to see if there might be some food in his dish. As soon as the coast was clear Jeoffry hopped into the bed and settled down for a nice nap. A few minutes later Milo came back and saw the interloper in his bed. He just stood there for a minute, waving his tail back and forth, obviously wondering what to do next. Then he walked up to the bed and stared at Jeoffry, who was either asleep or pretending to be, and started whacking him on the head with his paw - WHAP WHAP WHAP WHAP WHAP! Jeoffry just looked up and blinked and curled back to sleep. Milo whacked him again, to no avail. He stood there, thinking. Then he climbed into the bed, on top of Jeoffry. He is a big, hairy cat and Jeoffry was pretty much covered up by all that fur and cat. After a few minutes Jeoffry, defeated by Milo's bulk and the heat of the bed, slithered out from under Milo and found another place to nap. Milo, now triumphant, snuggled down in the bed and went to sleep. I LMAO'd.

(8 posts)One day I saw my mom's dog sitting in a laundry basket just peeking her head over the top of it; my mom's dog looked so cute just then.

A thing you could place under a hot plate or hot pot to not ruin the counter. About 6 inches square. They are knitted or crochet. By chance in my favourite colours: green and turquoise. Now I have something to brighten up my kitchen that is functional and Twilight obviously has something new to sit on. And something to remember her by.
My aunt used to crochet wash cloths too. She grew up in the countryside with a dad who was born in 1881 and a mother born in 1898. I think they were old time ways of making things when you used to make all the things you used. I feel very connected to the past through that side of my family. My aunt did too.

(16,954 posts)Whenever going outside to the patio which is pretty full of potted plants that they like to explore, I usually close the sliding glass behind me so the kitties don't get out. They are indoor cats for their safety.
So they hear the door opening = one. The door closing = two. I know this because sometimes if they are not around, I will leave the door open as I'm going in and out of the patio door and they are not underfoot to bug me. Yet, they always seem to surface from their hiding spots when they only hear the door open, so they know they have a window of opportunity to escape since they didn't hear the second count of the door closing behind me. It's happened enough that I have even set it up that way on purpose to watch them start coming from the back rooms when they only hear the door open. It cracks me up.

OK, here's my story. I came back to Jersey from a 10-day trip to Chicago. Kitties were well cared for by person familiar to them.
When I returned, I was driving a different car than what my one indoor/outdoor kitty is used to. She saw me drive up and she snarled. Then she saw who it was and she rolled over on her back for a tummy rub!

(16,954 posts)She did miss you. A lot of times they pout after being left alone. Your kitty didn't waste any time on that!
