my son is sick (probably nothing serious)

Hematuria. We're going to an urgent Care center later today because he has no GP/pediatrician here locally.

It's probably just a UTI from what I'm reading (he has no other symptoms), but yes when he told me, it freaked me out.

Wish him luck. Thanks.

You didn't say his age and/or general health, but with no other complications, probably idiopathic. Hang tight, he will be fine.

My son saw an ARNP, got a scrip for a sulfa antibiotic, was told there was small traces of blood and protein but sample going to the lab. Probably going to turn out minor but awaiting lab results. Thanks for support, fellow Loungers.

Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxazole.

Pretty standard for UTI's. But it's pretty unusual for guys to get them. Is your son drinking enough water? Frequent urination is a way to reduce bladder infections.

I think he is but I'm not sure. He seems to go to the bathroom as much as I do, and I drink plenty of fluids. I hope it's just a uti, but we'll see soon I guess.

He sees a urologist tomorrow.

The ARNP mentioned that perhaps it is a benign bladder tumor. Wish him luck.

They put him on painkillers but he couldn't function on them. I did some research and gave him a glass of water with a teaspoon or two of apple cider vinegar. The pain lessened and went away in a couple of days.

Good to know it's nothing more serious than Kidney stones but like MFM said they can be some of the most painful things you can have in your life. My father had a bout with them some years back. My mother had to race him to the ER he was in so much pain, he threw up and was incoherent because of how much pain he was in. They gave him lots of morphine and in time he managed to pass them in the ER. Said he's never been in that much pain in his life. But luckily it's not serious in terms of danger to your health. Sending good vibes, the best to you and your son. I hope he passes them quickly and the pain isn't too bad. Make sure he asks for enough pain meds if he needs them.

Thank you for the good vibes, you're a good guy !

Son had cystoscopy and lithotripsy, no problems, is home now in bed, I'm sure, at mom's house.

With any luck (knock on wood), he won't have any more stones for many years (or ever again). Thanks
for tolerating my anxieties, loungers.
